Hopefully, this is the summer that everything starts to return to normal but just in case it doesn’t I thought it could be a good idea to have a look at some of the things you can do with the kids this summer if the stores and activity centres don’t open up as expected.
When looking for things to do in London, I’ve looked at mostly outdoor activities as these will be the ones more than likely open if we go into another lockdown.

1) Horse riding in Richmond Park
Horse riding with stag lodge stables in Richmond Park is an activity that children from the age of 4 to 18 can enjoy. Horse riding may sound dangerous and it can be if the right precautions arent taken but with stag lodge stables your young ones can ride smaller horses such as shetlands which makes the activity safer.
Shetlands are usually very calm horses and have good temperaments. They also have a lower centre of gravity and are slower than other breeds of horses. Your kids will love shetland ponies and if you are looking for a great day out that’s affordable and covid friendly visit the riding in London website for more details.
2) Adrenaline rush laser tag
This is a great activity for the older kids that you will have to entertain at some point during the summer. AWrush has set up an outdoor laser tag activity centre which is suitable for the adrenaline junkie kids we have to among us (teenagers).
If hiding behind oil drums, jumping over tractor tires and avoiding being shot by lasers is something your child would love then the AWrush website is a place that you will want to visit for more details.

3) Deer Spotting in Richmond Park
As you may have guessed by now, Richmond park is a place that I love in London and I’m sure you and your family will too. Richmond Park has been mentioned on this list already but there are so many things to do there for your kids that it’s worth another mention.
Deer spotting in Richmond Park is an activity all ages can enjoy. They have over 600 deers in the park and watching out for these marvellous creatures is something you will enjoy doing.
4) Hackney City Farm
Hackney city farm is a great day out for your little ones especially if you are working on a budget. Hackney city farm allows your little ones to get up close with animals and plants and teaches them all about farming.
It’s reasonably quiet but does have school trips during weekdays so you may want to plan around that but other than that there’s more than enough room to socially distance while having a good time.
There are multiple shops on the Hackney farm where you can purchase the produce made on the farm along with gifts and merchandise too.
If you would like to visit Hackney city farm you can visit their website to learn more.
5) British military fitness
Exercising and doing military fitness drills isn’t exactly my idea for fun but if you have a hyperactive child and you think they could benefit from being put through some military fitness drills just to wear them out a little this could be the activity for you.
All joking aside the British military fitness day is a great way of keeping active while having fun with your family. They offer various levels of skills and difficulty levels so all fitness levels can take part. You can find out more about the British military fitness activities on their website.
Getting around
Without covid getting around London is simple and if you want to use the tubes or trains then feel free too. If you want something a little safer when travelling with your family you could consider hiring a private taxi as these taxis often get cleaned down between usage making them safer for your family.
