When you first realise you’re pregnant lots of things suddenly make sense… like the feeling sick and super tired. But suddenly all those really random things suddenly make sense too, all of those early signs and symptoms of pregnancy that people don’t really talk about. I will NEVER forget my first signs of pregnancy, and they helped me realise I was pregnant for the second time very quickly indeed.

My first sign of pregnancy was really quite funny. So, I went on a girly getaway to Amsterdam with my lovely friend Emma. We had so much planned! We wanted to do walking tours, hire some bikes, explore ALL the food places and just have an amazing time. We planned it for ages, and it was the first time we’d been on holiday together which made it even more exciting. We were there for 3 or 4 days and we ate so much cheese. Literally all the cheese. It was amazing. They even have a cheese museum. I mean that’s my kind of heaven right there! Anyway, after a day or two, I started to get this burning feeling in my chest. Really uncomfortable. I’d never had it before, and it was a little bit worrying I can’t lie. But after talking to Emma about It we realised it must be really bad heartburn… because of all the cheese! Makes sense right?

Just after that, we went for a walk by the river and I was so exhausted I almost had to sit down. At this point, I was talking to myself in my head telling myself I was joining a gym when I got home because this level of fitness was outrageous. I knew it was really hot and we’d done a lot of travelling. But usually, I was first up, ready to go! Anyway, poor Emma had a rubbish time. We stopped eating cheese, I just complained that I wanted to sit down and we never made it to half of the things on our list. That matched with needing to find a toilet every 30 minutes (oh, that’s another symptom right there) meant I was the worst holiday companion ever.

When I got home, after a couple of weeks, I’d missed my period. On the off chance took a pregnancy test. Guess what? PREGNANT!!!!!! That’s right! So my heartburn, exhaustion and needing the loo all the time wasn’t down to me at all – or the cheese! It was down to my little boy Cameo who decided to start growing while I was in Amsterdam (great timing kiddo).

So my early pregnancy symptoms were heartburn, exhaustion beyond belief and needing to wee an awful lot! As soon as I started to get all three of these again, I knew straight away. Instantly! Especially when I had to almost crawl to the bathroom at 3 am for a wee which I never do! Of course, being pregnant was well and truly confirmed when I went to the doctors. I was under Guys and St Thomas care in London and it was pretty smooth sailing for me!

What were your pregnancy symptoms? Oh and by the way, me and Emma are still besties, we just need to repeat Amsterdam to make up for the last time!
