There comes a time when you need to clear out your nursery. Maybe your baby has become a toddler and needs a slightly more grown-up room. Or perhaps clutter has just taken over and you really need to deal with it before your little one starts moving around. Whatever your reason for needing to clear out your nursery, it’s not always easy to know where to start. You can end up with a lot of baby stuff, some of which you never actually get around to using, and sorting through it can be a chore. But there are some steps you can follow to complete the job.
Decide What to Keep
Firstly, you need to go through everything and decide what to keep. There are two main reasons you will want to keep something. Either you’re still using it or you will be using it in the future. There might be some things that you decide have some sentimental value, and maybe you will decide to keep these too. However, it’s important to try and be a little strict with yourself. If you’re not, you could end up attaching sentimental value to everything and keeping it even though you don’t need it.

Sell or Give Away Items
After you have decided what to keep and what you no longer need, you can decide what to do with anything you’re not keeping. Start by thinking if there is anyone you know who might find any of it useful. You might also want to consider giving some items to charity. However, if you want to raise some cash, there’s also the option of selling some things. It’s a good way of getting some money to put towards anything else you might want to buy. Maybe you need to get a new toddler bed and could use the money.
Store Stuff for Later
Some items might be useful to you in the future, but you don’t need them right now. Maybe you’re planning on having another baby or want to keep some things for a friend or relative. If you want to store some stuff away, you have a few options. You could just store things at home or you could explore the option of mobile storage or a self-storage unit. These options will get stuff out of your house so you don’t need to take up storage space at home. You can get your stuff back whenever you need it.
Clean and Tidy
Once you’ve cleared out any clutter, you can take some time to clean and tidy the room. Maybe you want to prepare it for redecorating, or you just want to make sure it looks as good as it should. If you’re transforming the nursery into a toddler room, you might want to take the opportunity to touch up anything that needs to be repaired or add a fresh coat of paint.
Clearing out your nursery doesn’t need to be stressful. If you do it methodically, you can make the process a lot easier.
