A bathroom doesn’t just have to be a functional room. With the right accessories and a little bit of preparation a bathroom can be transformed into a room that can help promote relaxation and be a genuinely fun part of the home.
Bathroom furniture specialist Pebble Grey explain just some of the ways you can make your bathroom more entertaining.
For kids the bathroom is usually purely functional. A room for getting washed, cleaning teeth and keeping you from playing and doing what you want for portions of the day.
This doesn’t have to be the case, for example, water soluble crayons would allow the kids to let their creativity to run wild while they are in the bath, drawing pictures and entertaining themselves. The only issue would be cleaning up afterwards.
A basket full of their favourite bath time toys could also be useful. Not only does it help to prevent clutter by having them organised but they provide a useful means of keeping little ones entertained while they get clean.
Never underestimate the fun that can be had with bubbles. Adding a little extra bubble bath when you’re running the bath and really getting the foam going can give the kids the chance to mess around with bubble beards, wacky bubble hairstyles and even attempts at making a bubble snowman. Just err on the side of caution and use bubble bath that promises no tears or irritation if it gets in the eyes.
Making the bathroom more entertaining for an adult is a bit trickier, toys won’t really cut it beyond an ironic rubber duck.
Instead you should look to enhance your ability to relax and unwind. This could be done through several means. The first being to eliminate clutter. It is difficult to concentrate on the important task of not worrying about anything if you are worrying about the mess in a room. Eliminating clutter through organisation and proper bathroom storage can really help take the stress out of a bathroom. Making it much easier to chill out.
The light in a bathroom is often very stark, bright and clinical feeling. This can make it hard to unwind because while necessary most of the time that level of light can feel oppressive. Tea lights or small LED imitation candles could be used to add a softer ambient light to a bathroom to help you relax in the bath. By using a softer light, you aren’t faced with such a strong and potentially overpowering light source, which can help you to unwind.
Or you could provide yourself a more high-tech solution using a Bluetooth mirror. This can be connected to a range of electronic devices to stream music or other audio.
This means your relaxation could be accompanied by your favourite music or you could have a soak in the bath listening to your favourite podcast or audio book. This doesn’t just work for grown-ups either, your kid’s favourite songs or stories can be a great accompaniment to bath time.
With the right accessories and a bit of imagination you can transform your bathroom into anything, from an additional playroom to a relaxing sanctuary at the end of the day. A bathroom shouldn’t just be a purely functional part of a home, it can be a fun and interesting space for every family member.
