A couple of months into having a baby I realized that night feeds weren’t going anywhere and I needed a way to see what I was doing without waking up Mr. C and completely blinding the baby at 3am. Our night-light didn’t give off enough ‘glow’ and our lamp was a little too bright so we looked for some dimmable options. There aren’t actually that many attractive dimmable lamps out there. But we found a lovely matt opal dimmable lamp at First Choice Lighting. A little on the expensive side but it seems that dimmable lamps are generally in that range so it’s not extortionate in comparison.
Unfortunately when the lamp first arrived it actually arrived broken and smashed, I could hear it from in the box but obviously opened to make sure and it was definitely damaged. I have feedback about the packaging so hopefully they take that into account going forward. They did however replace the lamp, which was great, and this time it arrived in one piece – hooray! The main thing I love about this lamp is how easy it was to put together. Just a couple of pieces to screw on and it’s good to go.
This lamp has 3 settings of light. You touch the metal base of the lamp and it goes from the dimmest to the lightest. Be careful about putting anything next to the base of the lamp as I have switched it on during the night by accident when hunting for my phone / a soother / muslin cloth etc. In order to switch it off you have to go through to the brightest light and then it turns off. A little annoying if the baby has JUST nodded off BUT if you touch it really quickly it transitions VERY super quick so not much disturbance.
This lamp requires 40W E14 golf, now I found this really hard to get hold of. They didn’t stock it in two of my closest hypermarkets but I did finally find it on EBay, hooray! It’s an easy lamp to put together and the bulb is incredibly easy to screw in and the entire lamp is very stable. One of the key things about this lamp is that it really is just so pretty. The matt opal effect is really pretty. It looks very stylish but understated on my bedside table, which is exactly what I was looking for. It will definitely last a long time because of how sturdy it is and I’m sure when we move it will be coming with us.
This lamp was sent to me for review, all opinions are my own. Feel free to check out the rest of First Choice Lighting.
