If you haven’t guessed already I’m a bit of a foodie. One of my favourite things is bread, when it’s super fresh and toasted with melted butter and marmite. Not everyone will like this but you know, you love or hate marmite right? One thing you can’t dispute though is that real freshness of home made bread. That softness but firmness, the fresh smell and the absolute deliciousness of it. Is your mouth watering yet? Well, I recently tried The Polish Bakery out and they lived up to all of those expectations and more!
Based in London Wembley, they’ve been around since 2003 and are one of those traditional places where the food is classic but unbeatable. specialising in traditional sourdough bread this bakery is far from your standard run of the mill carb creator. Remember that home made style bread I was talking about? Well I tried some of The Polish Companys Chia Seed Sourdough Bread and they have that totally covered. A soft but firm loaf encrusted with chia seeds, I couldn’t believe how fresh it was considering it had been delivered across London, that has to be a sign of excellence. I had to toast it, I mean, butter and marmite on sourdough bread may not be a Polish tradition but it’s a Hollie tradition! You can see from the picture how soft the bread is and how the crust is made perfectly. My mouth is actually watering from reminiscing! I need more of this bread! The Polish Bakery bake their products in house so they are super fresh and made with a traditional recipe with many authentic Polish ingredients. Obviously that’s why it taste so good but stays fresh!
I also had to sample the Jablecznik – apple cake. It would be rude not too right? (They also do doughnuts. filled buns and all types of deliciousness). This apple cake was pretty special. A bit like a british apple crumble but firmer and more of a cake than a pie. It had chunks of gorgeous apple with the odd sultana and the cake was amazingly fresh. It’s one of those cakes that you think you can make at home, until you try it and you realise it may have the home made appeal but really it’s done by a master baker.
I have to give credit to The Polish Bakery for making real quality, fresh products and making them incredibly tasty. There’s nothing like supporting and independent company so if you’re in the area pop in and grab a load and a cake. You won’t regret it!
