Yesterday evening my gorgeous best girly and I pulled ourselves out of our flu ridden beds and went along to the Evening Standard Readers Event at the brand new Benefit Cosmetics flag Ship Store located on the famous Carnaby Street in London
It was a great evening. Relaxed, fun and full of treats!
On arrival we were escorted to the lower level (yes, this Benefit store has 2 floors of amazingness!) and Liam a lovely Benebabe explained what would happened. He gave us our goody bags, some chocolates to keep us sweet and a lovely glass of pink bubbly. To secure our spot we paid £20.00 but that was returned as a gift voucher so we could spend it on anything we liked.
While we waited for our make up to be done we obviously had a little snoop around. The Blow out area and manicure area is so pretty. It’s all very dreamy and just what a beauty boutique should be. It’s convenient having all you need in one place. Hair, Nails, Make up – check! All the decoration is exactly as you would expect, girly glam, pretty pink with a little vintage charm thrown in.
I had already booked a brow arch for my much needs squirrel tales and was over the moon when I saw that in the goody bag was a voucher to get it done for free. The brow arch was amazing. Claire, the Benebabe did a great job. She was so friendly and I almost didn’t want to leave my beauty chair! She showed me how the perfect eyebrows are supposed to be and went ahead and created them.
I was so impressed with my make-up. The Benebabe that did it (Chantelle I think her name was!) was outstanding. Everything she applied she showed me how to use and how to mix things around with different products. She didn’t apply things unnecessarily just to ‘sell’ them to me. In fact I didn’t feel any pressure to buy anything… although I did!
I’ve never done the whole eyebrow make up thing for fear of looking like a cartoon character, but both Benebabes showed me exactly what I needed to do and I actually got a little obsessed with my eyebrows for about 5 minutes. Obviously the rest of the make-up was great as well.
I ended up buying the Hello Flawless foundation because it was the perfect colour match and did what it says on the box. I also bought some Creaseless Cream shadow in Birthday suit. (I love the names!) As the colour was majestic and felt lovely. Obviously I had to buy Brow Zings after I freaked about my new eyebrows.
The only thing I was disappointed with was my own fault; I forgot to buy Boi-ing! I was so impressed with it, it even combated the redness of my eyebrows and I can’t believe I forgot to buy it! Arghhh!
Told you they were gorgeous – Liam & Claire
So to conclude, the Carnaby Benefit is everything it’s expected to be plus more! It’s the first Benefit store in the world to offer all the beauty services and the staff are really lovely. The big thing for me isn’t that they made my make-up look great, but that they SHOWED me how to use it so I can (attempt) to do it at home with the same products.
Me and my gorgeous girly- I’m pretty sure you can tell which one is the before & after but just in-case you couldn’t I did label them!
A fab evening thank you @Benefit_Carnaby
I love the blogging community. It’s bigger, friendlier and more imaginative and inspirational then I could ever have imagined. I slowly feel as though I am settling into the blogosphere and totally going with the flow of my blog. I just wish I did it sooner or when I was at college. Working take up so much time! But the again I wouldn’t be able to buy all the pretty things I come across if I didn’t work. Catch 22 or what?
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that pretty awesome Toni at Oh Hey Tone had nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award. Très cool!
The award is passed on to other bloggers who you feel have covered varied topics in a unique way and have good quality posts. It to show that bloggers who pay attention to their content and take time over their pictures etc. are appreciated!
So the rules of this thing are…
So here are 7 facts about ME (this is always so hard!)
Ok, that’s done, now here are the blogs and bloggers I am nominating for the Versatile Blogger Award.. Congrats!

The lovely people at Savvy Circle recently sent me this bottle of Nioxin Diaboost to try. The main purpose is to give advanced care for thinning hair. Now, my hair isn’t thinning, BUT it is fine. I struggle to boost my locks without weighing my hair down so anything offering to help I am willing to try.
Nioxin Diaboost has a rather formal and pharmaceutical name. It makes me think of actually having a medical problem, but you’ll be pleased to know it’s owned by Wella, as much more familiar friendly name!
This spray is supposed to increase the thickness of each existing hair strand making the hair fuller. The key with this product is that it isn’t an illusion. It doesn’t puff your hair up with warm air or anything like that; it genuinely increases the diameter of each hair strand making it fuller, stronger and still manageable.
So it sounds all good, but as we know the proof is in the pudding.
The application is super easy you spray on to wet OR dry hair (yes…. Dry hair!) Style and go. The product in the bottle looks almost get like which is why I thought it would make my hair look greasy, but nope, it’s a fine water like spray with a gorgeous fresh fragrance. It makes my hair smell like I’ve just left the hairdressers!
I can’t lie, this product genuinely works. I’ve tried dozens of volume enhancing mousses and shampoos in the past but rarely have I found something that works with no side effects. (Greasy hair, sticky strands, terrible fragrance etc.).
Nioxin Diaboost lifts my hair from the root, I can tell because the front of my hair doesn’t just full straight over my face, it sort of lifts a little and then falls over my face. I’m sure you know what I mean! It also makes my hair feel soft and keeps it fresh. No GREASYNESS!!!!! Thanks goodness!
It even caught my colleagues’ attention when she asked if I had changed my hair… I almost thought she was kidding but she had NO idea I was using this thickening treatment. I asked her why and her exacts words were ‘I don’t know, it just looks… bouncy!’ Bouncy? Woohoo! Bingo! Just what I want to hear.
The only downside with the product at the moment is that the spray is quite ‘fierce’ so the liquid doesn’t spread as evenly as I would like. It’s also on the pricey side ranging from £25.00 – £35.00 but honestly speaking the products last for ages. Longer than any mousse I’ve tried. It smells great and has given my hair more bounce then anything has been able to before.
You can find out more about Nioxin and their hair care products here.
Being at home for the day means I am a social media geek and literally cannot put my laptop or phone down. I click on links upon links upon links finding interesting stories which suddenly are everywhere! I take advantage of these days as they are far and few!
So here are todays news articles that I found share-worthy (don’t expect War & Peace, this is literally for entertainment purposes!)
DAVID BECKHAM SHARES HIS PANTS WITH EAST LONDON
Yesterday David Beckham was spotted filming the new advert for H&M and their Body wear collection. He was caught on top of the Old Truman Brewery neck to Brick Lane in Shoreditch. What makes me most gutted about this news is that I was so close! If only I knew I would have camped outside the pub waiting for a glimpse. Extreme, but worth it!
If you have ever been to Brick Lane you’ll agree that it doesn’t matter what time of day it is the streets are always full of fashionable folk and there isn’t a day that goes by where someone isn’t filming something, so I guess David Beckham rocking his new pants is just the norm for Shoreditch slickers.
MARC JACOBS LEAVING LOUIS VUITTON TO CONCENTRATE FLOATING ON THE STOCK EXCHANGE
After 16 years Marc Jacobs is leaving LV to concentrate on his own brand in order to make is successful as an initial public offering. (IPO). We all know that Mark Jacobs has helped keep Louis Vuitton in the spotlight as a modern high end brand but all is not lost as apparently there are rumours that Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere could be grabbing the artistic directors spot.
In the big scheme of things, 16 years is a LONG time for anyone to work for one company, where it’s the Post Office or Louis Vuitton so the departure of Jacobs is going to make a few waves. But bringing a fresh of new air to the brand is going to be interesting. I’m watching hits space to see what new path their designs take with more of a French influence.
PRIMARK & ASOS TRIAL ENDED
I was always surprised that Primark trialled selling on ASOS (or that ASOS allowed them to be honest!) for no other reason than it is fast fashion. The moment something went on sale it sold out. Sounds all good but if 70% of your customers are unhappy because you don’t have what they want, they will start looking elsewhere.
I also think that it just didn’t fit in with the ASOS swagger. Primark is great, cheap and chic but I wouldn’t say its great quality. Primark is in a league of its own to be fair and the range is too vast and too fast to be fulfilled online. There are no plans for Primark to enter the online market.
It would be amazing to have a Primark online store, but I can imagine it just wouldn’t have the same appeal. The dress you want would probably go before you clicked the basket button! With them it has to be one or the other. All high street and shop when you can, or all online with stock up to their eyeballs.
So that’s my news for today – just sharing the gossip.
