Time to do some window shopping! Since having Baby C my body shape has changed and I feel like I need to find what works for me again. Maybe I just need time, I mean he is only 6 weeks old but I want to feel good about what I’m wearing again. So there’s nothing like a good old wish list to get me fired up and back in the driver seat of the clothes I need to get my hands on. These are my top 9 picks that I need from the ‘New In’ sections of my fave plus size brands. There’s some pretty gorgeous things out there at the moment. Lots of floral (yay! One of my favourites!) and lots of relaxed, comfortable cuts that are definitely me right now. These are my top 9 must haves for Spring!
One of the big trends at the moment is ‘Athleisure’… a new word… yes indeed! It’s a look that combines athletic wear like tracksuits and vests along with leisure wear, like leggings and oversized tops. It’s basicallyy a way of you wearing a hoody because its comfortable but actually looking super fashionable. Who wouldnt love fashion being so easy for a change! But with any new trend, there comes new purchases. So I’ve made it easy and amazingly affordable for you to embrace the Athleisure season and add a few bits to your wardrobe. Here are my top plus size Athleisure bargains!
With only a few days to go until Valentines Day you might already have your outfit planned for that special date. But what about your shoes! Shoes can make or break an outfit (which is why I have so many… obviously!) so it’s worth taking the time to choose the right ones. There’s a lot to consider, from comfort to style. But if you really can’t decide, Deichmann recently carried out some research and the results will definitely help you put your best foot forward on your next date. With that research in mind and my own personal taste, I’ve chosen my top 5 date night shoes.
(From let to right)
The traditional high heel is always a date night winner. These cut out peep toes have a contemporary look so no matter how simple your outfit, these shoes will bring the glamour. The survey carried out by Deichmann showed that a female partner wearing high heels impressed 56% of men. So, that’s one way to impress your male date. However…
Leading me nicely into the gold ballerinas. Heels are fun and everything but not if you’re uncomfortable! One person who responded to the survey gave this anecdote – “I tried to walk very elegantly in heels that were too high, lost my balance and ended up on my bum, very embarrassed and feeling stupid.” You can keep it fashionable and glamorous with some metallic flats like these. No need to look out for wonky pavements!
I love these taupe ankle strap sandals. They stand in the high heel category but the block heel isn’t only on trend, but makes it so much easier to walk. The extra support means your feel will hurt less and therefor you can enjoy your date more. Plus the color is a neutral base so work them with any outfit.
Everyone should have a pair of court shoes in their wardrobe. The perfect mid heel (heels that are too high came in second and third as the biggest turn offs) and a simple design means they’ll compliment any date outfit. These pink courts are a gorgeous colour and perfect for Valentines Day pinks and reds.
Last but not least, for super fashion points (and warmth in this chilly weather) these block heeled Chelsea boots are the total winners. Make sure they are clean and looking fresh though as 50% of people described scruffy or dirty shoes on a woman as their biggest no-no.
Obviously the key of any date night outfit is to wear what makes you feel good and if the other person doesn’t like it maybe they don’t deserve a second date. At least you’ll have good shoes, that’s always worth celebrating!
The grunge trend is really a thing and I actually quite like it. I’ve never been one to wear dark t shirts with illustrations of guns n roses and all that type of thing, with neck chokers and that slight dissolved look. Welll I didnt THINK I was anyway. But looking at my wardrobe, it does have a touch of the 90’s vibe to it with ripped jeans and oversized denim shirts. I guess at times you can make your wardrobe whatever you want it to be and you’ll have those key items that will transition from trend to trend, season to season and even decade to decade. This Elvi biker jacket is one of those items. It gives a nod to the grunge trend but really is a classic piece that will last for ages!
I actually took these pictures while I was still pregnant, I had baby C on New Years Day so everything has been put back a while (I’m sure you forgive me!) I know the jacket fits differently now and sits a little better on my waist. I love that this jacket has some simple style features to it so that its doesn’t linger in the boring department. Ribbing and studs keep it interesting! It is a little on the short side but not cropped. It would be stunning matched with a high waist skirt or to grunge up a floral dress.
Personally, I found it a good fit (size 26) although the arms were a little on the snug side. I think that comes from the quality of the material, it will stretch out a little with wear just like most jackets. I’m also a fan of the colour, its charcoal rather than being the usual black which I think lends itself to fit with so many more outfits without looking out of place or too harsh. It’s definitely a wardrobe essential for all year around. Layer it up, dress it up, wear it on your shoulders or dress it down it’s a must have to cater for all styles over as many years as you can manage.

I love a good wishlist and while I’ve been stuck inside recovering from my labour experience I’ve been indulging in some window shopping of the special kind. You may (or may not) know I got engaged a few months ago, so it’s only normal I start to look for wedding rings, right? Well on the hunt for some inspiration I’ve edged towards some gorgeous antique and vintage style rings. This then of course turned into earrings and watches and so it continues. As always, to rail myself in I’ve created an antique and vintage jewellery wishlist.
1. Jewellery doesn’t just stop at earrings you know. A beautiful watch like number one with a stunningly unique colour will be a timeless piece in any jewellery box. It’s just so beautiful. Not often I say that about a watch I tell you.
2 & 3. On my ring hunt I came across this stunning heart shaped sapphire and diamond ring circa 1920s from Berganza. It’s totally stunning. The colour and the shape is so unique and it really is beautiful. While I was browsing the rings I came across these old cut diamond stud earrings which are at number 3. These are so me. I love big necklaces but theres something about stud earrings that makes them great for everyday wear. These are elegant and understated. I love them.
4. While I love stud earrings for daily wear, you always need some drop earrings in your box ready for a special occasion. These vintage inspired earrings are gorgeous and would compliment any outfit.
5. Sometimes simple doesn’t cut it and I’m a fan of statement necklaces. This is a piece which will compliment a simple outfit and turn anything from day to night. It’s vintage inspired and the shapes are lovely. I love the blue tones too, it’s unusual and something I’d love to have to hand for a special occasion.
Those are the favourites I’ve come across so far. Do you have any antique or vintage jewellery that has a special place in your jewellery box?
