There used to be a time when shirts were a massive no go for me. Gapping buttons and tight arms just weren’t worth the hassle! But now, I’m a bit of a fan I have to say. Brands actually do my size in fashionable shirts and not those awful stiff crepe things in pale blue, tight, shapeless fabrics that basically made me feel like I was in a straight jacket! So yes, now brands actually cater for my taste in fashionable plus size shirts, I indulge in wearing them occasionally. (Ok, a bit more than occasionally, but when I like something I REALLY like it). The shirt of the season for me right now is this chiffon blouse with detachable neck tie from Yours Clothing. It’s that pussybow style which is really versatile for work or play and I love the simple monochrome look as it always has a little extra punch to it.
The sizing on this shirt is fine on the bust but a little tight on the arms. I ALWAYS size up in shirts because of my arms and on this occasion I’m glad I did. It doesn’t feel restrictive (a tiny tiny little bit snug on the bust but only if I don’t move it around properly) and is a little floaty which means I can wear it with skinny jeans too. Always an easy to turn to outfit, those are obviously my favourite kind! The shirt isn’t as sheer as I thought it was going to be which is a good thing, it means you can’t really tell if I’m wearing a cami underneath or not. I much prefer this as I’m not a fan of sheer tops with vests underneath, it just irritates me. So this is a winner.
I went for something a little different and opted to wear the shirt with this deep v neck skater dress. It’s a really versatile piece and looks great with a striped top underneath too. It’s a scuba fabric which feels really nice and it has a bit of structure to it. It’s a basic black dress which will always come in useful but the deep v neck gives it a little edge which I like. This is spot on with sizing, so no need to size up and it’s super stretchy so don’t worry too much about the sizing to be honest.
I love these two pieces combined and I think they make quite a statement. Monochrome is always punchy so I didn’t expect anything else. I do feel very well put together in this outfit and it’s actually a great party outfit. I do have a little sense of dairy maid or waitress when I wear it but that just adds to the fun. I feel sharp and a little sassy, so I’ll werk werk werk werk werk the shirt shirt shirt shirt shirt. (Yeah, I said it!)
