I recently did a blog post about my (too long) wish list of gorgeous dresses that keep popping up. (Its here if you want to check it out). I tried to be good, I really did, but this one dress kept calling me!
So What is a Bodycon dress? They are pretty easy to spot. They are those tight, elasticated, fitted things which show every lump, bump, curve and dip. They come in all lengths and colours but usually have quite bright, eye catching patterns. Not for the faint hearted -hence the ‘body-conscious’ tag name.
So here is another question, why the heck did I want one? Well I had this image of a figure hugging dress which would hopefully accentuate the somewhat of an hour glass figure I have, make me feel like a woman and brave it out.
I read somewhere that Bodycon dresses only suit particular body shapes. I think this is so wrong! It WILL accentuate curves, a Bodycon dress is made to be clingy, but I think it shows off those curves in a really flattering way, that means whatever your shape or size you just have to have the confidence to wear it.
I couldn’t resist this Bodycon dress from JustCurvy.com. At only £16.99 it was keeping me awake at night. Don’t get me wrong. I was worried. The paisley print is quite… in your face. The dress was obviously going to be fitted. Would it be just too unflattering! It ticked all the boxes for a ‘pass if you are plus-size’ dress. But I thought, screw it! Lets give it a go.
So I did and I LOVE it!
So Why Do I Love It?
Firstly, it covers my arms and the facs are long makes me feel quite classy and that I can get away with the tightness of the dress because I am not flashing too much skin. The same goes for the high neckline.
The length is just right for me. It hits just under my knees. The dress measures at 41″ in length. Because it stretches you can actually play around with it and pull it further down or shuffle it to make it a little shorter. Whatever floats your boat.
I can dress it up or down. Adding high heels and chunky jewellery for going out, or, flats and a blazer for work.
I also think its is quite generous in its sizing. Thanks to JustCurvy.com it has lots of ‘give’ in the fit so I don’t feel like I am squashed sausage about to burst!
The print is eye catching but I love the warmth of the beige and actually, I don’t feel like an elephant in the room. Always a good thing. (Pat on the back for being brave!)
Overall, I love it. More please… BodyCon Dress… I definitely say YES!
