You know those things called hormones? Well I didnt really pay much attention to them before I got pregnant. I mean we all have them but so what? SO WHAT? I’ll tell you what! When I was pregnant those so called ‘hormones’ did wonders for my hair and skin. Seriously, I felt generally the healthiest I’ve felt in a long time. Hooray for hormones! Yes? Well, no. Not quite. You see, pregnancy doesn’t actually last forever (believe it or not). So now baby C is two months old, well those lovely hormones have been playing havoc with my hair and skin. It’s almost worse than before I was pregnant. The main thing is that everything is dry. My skin is dry… super dry. My hair is dry and has lost its uber volume that pregnancy gave it and my nails are pretty brittle now. So on a mission to recover my volumes hair and to give it a bit of TLC, I’ve been trying the Phil Smith Coco-licious shampoo and conditioner. It’s not just the name thats fabulous.
First things first, the fragrance doesn’t disappoint. With a name like Coco-licious you have to make sure the coconut smell is well an truly there, which it is. Already gold star worthy. I’m a massive fan of coconut (I know its not everyones taste!) but the smell is sweetly refreshing without being sickly. Don’t worry, you don’t smell like coconut milk after a shower, even if you used the shampoo and conditioner like I’ve been doing. Every. Time. Also, the packaging is rather easy on the eye too. Lets not lie, we all like pretty things in our bathroom don’t we?
In terms of using the shampoo and condition, they are supposed to give some moisture back to your hair without weighing it down. This is important to me as my hair is pretty fine and limp. Even though its dry and get get greasy really quickly. I was slightly worried as coconut oil can be over zealous on fine hair, but there was no need to be. My hair has definitely had an improvement since I’ve started using this shampoo and conditioner. Especially on the ends of my hair which are the driest. It’s also given it a little oomph too which I think is from the extra hydration. A bit like a wilting flower! I use the conditioner at every wash too because it helps untangle my hair. I’d say if you have fine hair like mine you don’t need much or you will go a bit greasy, but that means is great value for money. If however you have curly hair or super thick locks, I’d say lather it on. (Once a week I also plan on using the Hello Moisture intensive treatment) My hair feels like a silky smooth dream when I rinse the conditioner out under the shower and the faint smell of coconut lingers around me. To be fair, having a 2 month old baby makes amazing showers like this a rarity. It’s a get it and out kind of job most days. But I still use Coco-licious because so far its really worked for giving my hair a bit of life back and fighting back the damage those pesky hormones have been making!
